My initials are CAN (Chad Allan Nicholls). My mom always told me. Chad, you CAN do anything you set your mind to its in your name. Well as aggravated as I
got when I was younger, I guess it did stick with me when I grew up. I have never been afraid of tackling a new project.
A little about me, I am a 32 year old IT Director, working in computers.
I grew up in the small town of Archbold, OH. I was the little kid who asked
100 questions, if it had batteries and screws I could see, I would take it apart
to see how it works. I remember bailing straw for 2 weeks when I was about 10, I
made a whole $30, that same week my dad found the families missing dust buster
in pieces hidden away in my room. Guess what I had to spend my first paycheck
on? I never really watched allot of TV as a kid. Most summers were spent
building or taking things apart. As a teen, I think I had the largest home build
stereo in town. It took up half my room. My first computer was an Apple 2e
anyone remember those? I started loving computers when I broke the apple pc
installing some game. I panicked and rode my bike to the local Wyse Office
Center, and talked to the computer repair guy. Here I was a 9 year old kid
asking him how to fix this thing before my dad got home. He smiled and showed me
how to take it apart change a jumper on the motherboard, and Walla, fixed! I was
hooked! I bought a few books on programming and dinked around. Little did I know
I would end up dinking around on a keyboard for the rest of my life.
By day I am a computer geek, and by night these are my "hobbies". The
other employees where I work, and most people I work with have no idea of my
secret life as a builder, inventor or what ever you want to call it. Most just
look at me a manager, computer guy or just your average geek! I am a
little short at 5' 8" and a little heavy at 200 lbs. I hate writing, and I cant
spell with out spell check!
I am a 1995 graduate of
Archbold High School. In school I attended
Four
County Vocational School where I studied electronics and computers. I was able
to "intern" at Sauder Woodworking as a network technician. I later was hired
full time, and they sent me to college at Owens Community College. During my 6
year career at Sauder, I started working in the web development team. Later I
moved on to Sonit Systems as a software developer. I am now the Director of
Information
Technology at Tri-State Expedited.
I am the son of Chuck and Pat Nicholls. I am the middle child of two sisters.
Amber is my baby sister who is currently working at Northwest State College and
I am very proud of her. Dawn is my older sister who past away in 2003, she has a
little girl who is a spitting image of her. I love my family very much.
Unfortunately, I built a house in Northwood, OH in 2008, that makes me about a
hours drive, so I don't get to see them as often as I should. They have been
down allot to see my son play soccer this year, that was really cool!
ADD So you may have
noticed this guy has a lot of projects going on. What's up with that? Well its
true, I have ADD or ADHD or whatever they call it now. So the short answer is I
have to stay busy, I don't watch TV the News depresses me, so this is my outlet.
Its not an excuse or an illness to me, its who I am. I look at it as the thing
that makes me special. Most people hate starting new projects, I love starting
them. (to a fault actually) I work 120% until I get the hard parts done, then I
get board. So my trick is to try to break huge projects down into 100's of
little projects, start 5 or 10 little things, then circle back around when I get
board. Its not perfect, and yea, I have lots a "little things" to finish up on
almost all of my projects. If you spend anytime in my projects section of this
site you will see that I have accomplished some pretty cool things.
